Hilterfingen is a municipality in the district of Thun in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Geography

Hilterfingen has an area of 2.8 km² (1.1 sq mi). Of this area, 10.4% is used for agricultural purposes, while 47% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 40.5% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (2.2%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains).[2] The village is located on the northeastern shore of Lake Thun (Thunersee). To its north are the municipalities of Thun and Heiligenschwendi, to its south and east is the municipality of Oberhofen am Thunersee.

History

Hilterfingen is first mentioned in 1175 as Hiltolfingen.[1]
