La Neuveville is a municipality in the district of La Neuveville in the canton of Bern in Switzerland, located in the French-speaking Bernese Jura (Jura Bernois).
Geography
La Neuveville has an area of 6.8 km² (2.6 sq mi). Of this area, 21% is used for agricultural purposes, while 63.7% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 15% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (0.3%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains).[2] It is located on the bank of Lake Biel. Although La Neuveville has only about 3400 inhabitants, the medieval town has the legal standing of a city according to the old city statutes (Stadtrecht). La Neuveville lies on the shores of Lake Biel, at the foot of the Chasseral (Jura).
