Geography

Emmonak is located at 62°46′38″N 164°32′42″W / 62.77722°N 164.545°W / 62.77722; -164.545 (62.777328, -164.544920)[2]. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 8.6 square miles (22.4 km²), of which, 7.5 square miles (19.5 km²) of it is land and 1.1 square miles (2.9 km²) of it (13.08%) is water.

Winter 2008-2009 Energy Crisis

In the winter of 2008-2009, a combination of a cold winter and increased fuel prices have led to economic hardship.
