There were 6,474 households out of which 45.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 77.0% were married couples living together, 6.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 13.7% were non-families. 10.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.99 and the average family size was 3.22. In the CDP the population was spread out with 30.8% under the age of 18, 4.7% from 18 to 24, 24.8% from 25 to 44, 30.6% from 45 to 64, and 9.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The population was 19,388 at the 2000 census. The ZIP code is 95746. Granite Bay is a primarily residential suburb of Sacramento located just east of Roseville and west of Folsom Lake.
Education
Granite Bay is served by two public high schools, Granite Bay High School and Del Oro High School (which is located in Loomis). Both high schools consistently rank among the top high schools in the State. The Eureka Union School District is the K-8 district serves Granite Bay and feeds into Granite Bay High School. It is also one of the state's highest performing districts according to Standardized Testing and Reporting. Geography
Granite Bay is located at 38°44′55″N 121°10′47″W / 38.74861°N 121.17972°W / 38.74861; -121.17972 (38.748504, -121.179793)[1]. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 21.7 square miles (56.1 km²), of which, 21.6 square miles (55.9 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.2 km²) of it (0.32%) is water. The place name, Granite Bay, is derived from a bay in Folsom Lake on the east side of the town. The entire town is underlain by granodiorite of the Penryn Pluton of Cretaceous age, hence the geological basis for the place name.
