There were 1,133 housing units at an average density of 695.8/sq mi (268.4/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 92.15% White, 1.10% African American, 0.58% Native American, 1.37% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 2.81% from other races, and 1.92% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 9.64% of the population. There were 1,048 households out of which 17.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.0% were married couples living together, 7.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 47.2% were non-families. 39.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.95 and the average family size was 2.59. In the town the population was spread out with 11.1% under the age of 18, 2.4% from 18 to 24, 17.5% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 45.1% who were 65 years of age or older. It is in the Pacific time zone (GMT -8). The population was 2,916 at the 2000 census. The town's name is derived from the name of early pioneer George Calvert Yount. Yount was considered responsible for establishing the first vineyard in the Napa Valley. Yountville is now a renowned destination in the heart of the Napa Valley wine country with world famous restaurants and luxury inns.

Geography

Yountville is located at 38°24′11″N 122°21′44″W / 38.40306°N 122.36222°W / 38.40306; -122.36222 (38.403011, -122.362285)[1]. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.6 square miles (4.2 km²), all of it land. Yountville suffered a 5.2 magnitude earthquake on September 3, 2000.[2]
