The racial makeup of the town comprised 98.48% White, 1.04% Hispanic or Latino of any race, 0.28% Native American, 0.25% African American, 0.16% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.28% from other races, and 0.53% from two or more races. Of the 2,407 households, 33.0% had children under the age of 18 living in them, 57.0% consisted of married couples living together, 11.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.0% housed non-families. 23.3% of all households comprised individuals and 7.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size was 2.92. In the town the population was spread out with 24.5% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 30.8% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 12.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 92.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over there were 89.3 males. Geography
Sellersburg is located at 38°23′13″N 85°45′27″W / 38.38694°N 85.7575°W / 38.38694; -85.7575 (38.386823, -85.757543)[3]. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 4.0 square miles (10.4 km²): 4.0 square miles (10.4 km²) of it land and 0.25% water.
History
Sellersburg takes its name from its founder, Moses Sellers, who laid out the town in the early 1800s. Sellersburg is home to the large cabinet building company, Haas Cabinets. Carlos Haas ("the Colonel") began building cabinets as a hobby in a barn on his southern Indiana farm in 1939. It is one of the longest running family owned cabinet businesses. In the early 1980s the town became home for Clark Regional Airport, a regional airport handling small private aircraft. In 1994, local PGA golfer Fuzzy Zoeller opened Covered Bridge Golf Club, which he designed. Covered Bridge has hosted many pro/celebrity golf tournaments which have raised money for local charities. The Wolf Challenge takes place annually. Notable celebrities played in the 2006 Wolf Challenge in Sellersburg, including Bill Murray, Kevin Costner, John Daly, and Cris Judd. President George W. Bush visited Sellersburg on October 28, 2006 to support the campaign of the local Republican U.S. Representive Mike Sodrel. The visit made national news due to large groups of Sellersburg residents protesting against Bush and Sodrel. In June 2008 IWA Mid South hosted their annual King and Queen of the Death Match tournament in Sellersburg.
