Because of this, Moyock has begun to witness an increase in residential development as an emerging bedroom community for Hampton Roads. Moyock also contains a number of facilities related to Xe (formerly Blackwater Worldwide [1]), a private security company that provides training for United States military and police forces and supplies private paramilitary forces in Iraq and other theaters. The company maintains a 7,000-acre (28 km2) training center in the town on Puddin Ridge Road.[1]
