The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 3.24. In the borough the population was spread out with 27.9% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 31.3% from 25 to 44, 19.9% from 45 to 64, and 12.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 89.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 84.3 males. Education

Public school students attend the following: high school students attend Academy Park High School and elementary and middle school students attend Sharon Hill School. Until 2003, Catholic school students attended Holy Spirit School. This school has since closed due to lack of enrollment.

Geography

Sharon Hill is located at 39°54′23″N 75°16′16″W / 39.90639°N 75.27111°W / 39.90639; -75.27111 (39.906340, -75.271008)[1]. According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.8 square miles (2.0 km²), all of it land.

Notable

Cardinal John Patrick Foley grew up in Holy Spirit Parish in Sharon Hill and was ordained a priest in 1962. In June, 2007, he was named Pro-Grand Master of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem by Pope Benedict VI. Prior to that appointment, Foley was President Emeritus of Pontifical Council for Social Communications and Titular Archbishop of Neapolis in Proconsulari. He was elevated to the College of Cardinals on 24 November 2007 by Pope Benedict XVI. Bessie Smith, legendary blues singer from the 1920s and 1930s, is buried at Mount Lawn Cemetery, located in Sharon Hill.

Transportation
